Have a happy holiday week, we are going to shut your power off. That is what some residents of El Segundo are being told for the week of the 4th of July. Power is being shut down for a day at a time for almost 200 residents and businesses on July 2 and 3.
And residents are getting fed up. Many can’t figure out how the power can’t be sorted out. The issues seem to be ongoing.
The first outage will happen on July 2. It will go from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This should affect 120 residential and 9 business’. It will entail North: East Imperial, West: Cedar and South: West Oak.
The second will take place on July 3. It will start at 9 a.m. and go until 4 p.m. 39 residential and 5 business customers will be affected. This outage will cover North: West Sycamore, East: Main St., South: West Oak and West: Concord.
As always you hope that the jobs will be done by the times stated. The reality is they are the best estimates. With that said it would be good to take some precautions.
There are a number of things that can be done to prep for something like this. Make sure you have plenty of candles on hand. Also some staple goods such as water.
Leading up to the outage, please make sure you get food out of your freezer. As well, anything that can spoil in your fridge must be removed. Beware of refreezing things that have thawed.
Medications also can play havoc. Make sure arrangements are made for anything that needs to be chilled. Something as simple as a full ice cooler may be enough to take care of this.
