Italian food in El Segundo is about to have the bar raised. Workshop will open the doors sometime in early June. It will be located at 241 Main St. which is where Johnny Memphis BBQ was, taking over from long-time restaurant Mandy’s.
The city of El Segundo is changing. Businesses are moving out. They are being replaced by new people with some fresh ideas. This venture is a perfect example of that.
Jackson Kalb, Chef/Owner, has a very impressive resume. He has worked at some of the most noted, and Michelin-awarded, restaurants in the country. Kab began his career at Melisse. He then went on to work at Joel Robuchon, Alinea, Union Square Cafe and Factory Kitchen just to name a few.
Kalb is joined on this venture by GM/Owner Melissa Saka. She has spent seven years at the Hillstone Restaurant Group. This company owns Houton’s, Gulfstream and the Palm Beach Grill just to name a few. Jumping into this venture will give her a chance to step away from the corporate world.
The company is putting a huge emphasis on locally grown, market-driven ingredients. Looking at their menu it will consist of salads, sandwiches and various hand-rolled pastas. The menu is listed below.
Hours for the new venture will be Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. til 10 p.m. Thursday to Saturday they will stay open until 11. They can be reached at 310 648-8554.
